This is an Emergency Announcement from the Township of Bloomfield.
Due to a watermain break on the City of Newark supply line in Belleville yesterday morning, the township remains under a boil water advisory.
You will be advised of any updates to this notice. While the township’s water pressure has improved, and at this time, the presence of e-coli or fecal coliform has not been detected in the water system, water breaks of this nature, where water pressure or service was low or non-existent for a period of time, require that the township sample and re-sample the water to verify that these contaminants have not been introduced into the potable water system.
Therefore, until further notice, all water used for consumption, brushing teeth, and washing dishes should be boiled for at least 1 minute before use. The use of bottled water is encouraged. Drinking water will be provided by the Township Of Bloomfield at the Civic Center parking lot. The Civic Center is located at 84 Broad Street. The parking lot can be accessed via State Street.
Further information can be found on the township website or by calling the water department at 973-680-4009. The township will continue to update residents through the website, our Cable TV Channels 35 on Comcast and 30 on FIOS, and through further telephone announcements.
