Don’t miss Monday’s episode of Health Beat, the Bloomfield Health Department’s award-winning radio show! Our special guest will be Will Yarzab, who oversees the Street Smart NJ pedestrian safety campaign for the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority. Street Smart NJ is a collaborative effort that aims to reduce pedestrian-motor vehicle collisions in New Jersey. Since its creation in 2013, more than 80 communities have participated — including Bloomfield. In 2018, 177 pedestrians were killed in crashes with vehicles in New Jersey — about one fatality every two days. Tune in to WBCR,
the Bloomfield College radio station at 3 p.m. Monday to hear Will, who spent 25 years in law enforcement, discuss the history of Street Smart NJ and its efforts to reduce pedestrian fatalities and injuries across the state.
