PSE&G Infrastructure Project Phase Two on Jersey Street and Park Avenue Beginning Jan. 19
January 13, 2026 - BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The Township of Bloomfield is sharing information from PSE&G to keep residents informed as the utility begins the next phase of electric reliability upgrades in town.
PSE&G is scheduled to begin work on or shortly after Monday, January 19, 2026, along the following roadways:
- Jersey Street between Park Street and Park Avenue
- Park Avenue between Bloomfield Avenue and State Street
Work will include necessary tree trimming and select tree removals, coordinated with an arborist to maintain safe clearance around upgraded overhead electrical equipment. These upgrades are part of PSEG&G’s ongoing efforts to modernize aging infrastructure and address frequent power outages that have impacted residents in the area.
“As this necessary work moves forward, the Township is coordinating closely with PSE&G to ensure that any tree removals are met with an aggressive replacement program that protects Bloomfield’s tree canopy,” said Mayor Jenny Mundell.
All work will be completed within existing utility rights-of-way, and crews will carry identification. Residents may experience temporary lane or sidewalk closures and occasional planned service interruptions, with advance notice provided when possible.
Work hours are generally Monday – Friday between 8:00AM – 2:00PM, with limited extended hours if required. The project is expected to continue through Spring 2026, weather permitting.
