25 Bloomfield Police Officers Recieve Recognition at Award Ceremony

Police Ceremony

BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- 25 Police officers were honored at a ceremony yesterday in the Bloomfield Township Council Chambers attended by friends and family, Mayor Michael Venezia, other elected officials, Director of Public Safety Samuel DeMaio, and members of the public.

“I would like to congratulate each and every one of our award recipients. Your work to keep our community safe, and our residents feel engaged in the process of community policing helps make this town a wonderful place to live,” said Mayor Michael Venezia. “On behalf of my Council colleagues, I would like to thank you all.”

Over the past four years, crime in Bloomfield is down by 50% across the board, and civilian complaints are down as well, due in large part to a re-emphasis on community policing, and public involvement in police activities, such as the ongoing Citizen Police Academy and Summer Jr. Police Academies, both free and open to members of the public.

The award recipients are:
