Bloomfield Recreation to Hold Four Free Classic Car Shows on Wednesday Nights in August

BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- The Bloomfield Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs Department will be holding four free classic car shows on Wednesday nights at Universal Technical Institute, 1515 Broad St between 6:00 and 9:00pm in August.

“We are very excited to include the Hot Summer Nights – Classic Car Cruise Night to our 2019 Summer of Fun,” said Michael Sceurman, Director of Bloomfield Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs. “Offering four more free events that the whole family can enjoy enables us to fulfil our mission. I’d like to thank the Bloomfield Cruisers, Universal Technical Institute and the property management company Shelbourne for partnering with us to keep the Summer of Fun going strong.”

Each Wednesday will feature a special theme:

August 7th – First Responders Night featuring police, fire and EMS vehicles & staff

August 14th  – Universal Technical Institute Tour and Chassis Dyno Runs

August 21st  – Famous TV Show Cars featuring the late 60’s Batmobile and Batcycle

August 28th – Classic Drive-In Movie starting at 8:15PM with feature film Disney’s “CARS”

There will be a DJ playing hits and classic along with trophies being awarded each night. For spectators’ convenience, UTI’s lobby will be open for the use of their restroom facilities and three well known food trucks will be on site each night selling a variety of food and drinks. The events will have great local cuisine such as MexiFlip Taco Truck who will sell their award winning Chicken Mango and Pulled Pork Tacos, Spanky’s Gourmet Grub will offer their gourmet burger, voted as Best Burger and People’s Choice Award at the Battle of the Burger and Luna Wood Fired Tavern will offer Classic Italian Ice and Ice Cream for residents to cool off.

All classic, show and specialty vehicles are invited to participate in this free event regardless of year, make or model and spectators are encouraged to attend this family friendly event. There will be onsite parking for non-participants.classic car cruise nights - final-page-001
