BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- At the November 19 Bloomfield Township Council, Internet Technology Director Jean-Guy Lauture unveiled a significantly upgraded township website that members of the public will find more accessible and aesthetically pleasing. The website domain remains http://www.bloomfieldtwpnj.com. To ensure all
residents can provide feedback on the website and appropriate structural
changes can be made, the Mayor and Council will host a public forum on
Wednesday, December 12 at 7:00pm at the Bloomfield High School Media Center.
In April, the
Bloomfield Township Council held a public forum where residents spoke about
their expectations from the Township regarding communications and keeping
residents in the know about events happening in town. The forum focused on the way the Township uses platforms like its website, Facebook, and Swift911 to
share information to create one easily accessible location for residents
to get all the information they need from the Township.
“The Spring forum laid the framework for the substance of this new site, to more prominently emphasize public meeting minutes and agendas and events like recycling days,” said
Mayor Michael Venezia. “Once press releases are posted on our new website,
they will also be displayed on the official ‘Township of Bloomfield’ Facebook page which
residents have already utilized as a direct way of having questions about any
number of issues or municipal departments answered in one place, without
hassle.”
The new website was custom-built for Bloomfield
by CivicPlus, a company that specializes in government websites. Through the
new website, residents can sign up to receive alerts, including road closings,
Council, Zoning, Planning and other public board or committee meetings, events
calendars, and much more.
