BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- This Saturday and Sunday, The Bloomfield Fire Department is holding a clothing drive at their 375 Franklin St. Headquarters to help the families that were displaced or affected by the November 7 fire on Washington St. This clothing drive will be Saturday and Sunday. Residents affected by the fire should call the department at 973-680-4024 for these services and to receive gift cards donated by United Way. Residents looking to sponsor a family in need should also call the Department of Health and Human Services at 973-680-4024.

Additionally, gift cards and monetary donations are being collected through November 25 at Anthony’s Cheesecake Restaurant, located at 71 Washington St. Visa, Kohls, Target, ShopRite and Stop and Shop gift cards are among those most helpful. Donated gift cards can also be delivered or mailed to the Mayor’s office, 2nd floor of the Law Enforcement Building, 1 Municipal Plaza, Bloomfield, NJ 07003 by November 25.

“Thanks to the preparedness of our Fire Department and aid from our Police Department and neighboring Fire Departments, no civilians were harmed in last week’s fire, but many lost thousands of dollars worth of food, clothing and other personal effects,” said Mayor Michael Venezia. “We are committed as a community to making sure that these families get everything that they need during this difficult time. Our Health Department is working all Holiday season to aid people in need, and I appreciate their staff’s commitment, as well as the participation of our Fire Department and Anthony’s Cheesecake. I am thankful to everyone in advance who will donate to this important cause.”
