
Bloomfield, NJ – The Township of Bloomfield held a ceremonial swearing-in last night to honor Jenny Mundell as Mayor of Bloomfield and Monica Charris Tabares as Councilwoman At Large. The event, held in the Bloomfield Council Chambers, was attended by local officials, residents, and community leaders, celebrating a new chapter of leadership in the township. Mayor Mundell, the first woman elected as Mayor of Bloomfield, expressed her gratitude and enthusiasm for the role, stating: "I am deeply honored to serve as Mayor of this incredible community. Together, we will continue to make Bloomfield a place where everyone feels heard, supported, and proud to call home. I look forward to working with my fellow council members and our residents to build on our progress and embrace new opportunities." Councilwoman Monica Charris Tabares, who made history as the first Latina elected to a township-wide position, reflected on the significance of the moment: "This evening is a celebration not just of new leadership but of the strength and diversity of our township. Mayor Mundell and Councilwoman Tabares officially assumed their roles on November 18, 2024, following the certification of the general election results by the Essex County Clerk’s office.
