Bloomfield Recreation Senior Citizens

The Bloomfield Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs Department is excited to provide recreation programming and transportation services to our senior citizen residents.  We look forward to our monthly Senior Citizen Club meetings which started back up in the Fall 2025, holiday gatherings, guest speakers, guest entertainers, casino bus trips and entertainment excursions.  

Senior Organization Club: 2025 was a successful year for our Senior Organization Club with over 125 members, and 2026 looks to be bigger and better.

 Yearly Membership dues are $20 and will be good until September 2026. Membership allows you to receive discounts on seasonal programming as well as free entry to our holiday celebrations.

Bloomfield Shuttle ServiceSenior Citizen Bus

The Senior Citizen Bus is a free transportation service that is available to all senior citizens over the age of 60 and any resident with a disability or handicap.  This is a fixed route service that has predetermined pick up and drop off locations at predetermined times.   This service allows Bloomfield Senior Citizens an opportunity to shop for groceries, toiletries and household necessities.  Fixed routes allow for stops at banks, post office and Town Hall.    View Current Senior Citizen Bus Schedule

Dial - A- Ride Program

The Dial-A-Ride Program is a free transportation service that is available to all senior citizens over the age of 60 and any resident with a disability or handicap.  Eligible residents can schedule rides by calling the recreation department during regular business hours: Monday – Friday from 8:00AM to 4:30PM.  

 All callers are given a specific pick up time in order to transport them to their destination in a safe and timely fashion.  Rides are predominately for medical purposes but also include transportation to the barber/beauty shop, visiting sick relatives, gravesites, supermarkets and local shops as well as to volunteer jobs and recreational activities. 

This is a first come first serve service.

 This is a “curb to curb” service that picks up residents and takes them to any destination throughout Essex County.  To schedule an appointment please call 973-566-7194.
