We know that teachers include this essay contest as an additional assignment – on top of teaching an engaged, standards-based curriculum. Bloomfield educators go above and beyond their curriculum to incorporate aspects of Dr. King’s life and context. We appreciate their continued efforts. Berkeley Elementary sixth grade English/Language Arts teacher, Janelle Brown, was honored this year with the BCRC Inspire Award for her efforts in teaching for a better future and for actively encouraging her students to participate in the contest each year.
