On Tuesday March 10, 2009 the Bloomfield Fire Department received International Accreditation with the Center for Public Safety Excellence. The Commission on Fire Accreditation International unanimously voted for the Fire Department to be accredited. This culminated over 2 years of preparation by the Department.
The program involved an in depth evaluation of the fire department, from its organization, operations, management, and planning functions. This was achieved by measuring the departments current capabilities against nationally recognized practices and standards (benchmarking) with the final goal to develop and implement plans to maximize the performance level of the department.
Now that the accreditation has been achieved, our department is now recognized as one that optimized it's capabilities of providing the best service to the community within the scope of our resources. Currently we are now the only municipal fire departments in the State of New Jersey with this accreditation.
