June 22, 2022 - In recognition of PRIDE month, the Bloomfield Center Alliance (BCA) is teaming up with Bloomfield LGBTQ+ Pride, an advisory committee to the town council, for a PRIDE-themed Dinner Under the Stars event this Friday, June 24th from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
The weekly al fresco dining series has been taking place in downtown Bloomfield for several years. The first block of Washington Street (between Glenwood Avenue and Farrand Street) is blocked off to traffic and outdoor tables and chairs are set up so folks can dine and enjoy live entertainment. Each week brings a different style of music and performer. This Friday evening, Bloomfield’s own Dane and Stephanie will be the featured musical guests. The duo has competed on the hit, nationally televised show “The Voice.”
“We are very excited to be working with Bloomfield Pride for this special evening of Dinner Under the Stars,” says BCA Executive Director Ollyn Lettman. “This is a great opportunity to showcase Bloomfield as the diverse, welcoming community that it is.” A recent NY Times article named Bloomfield as one of the most LGBTQ+-friendly communities in NJ and the region surrounding Manhattan.
Speaking on the upcoming collaboration, Bloomfield Pride lead organizers Mary Valentine and Oscar Marin share, “Bloomfield Pride is excited to be partnering with the Bloomfield Center Alliance (BCA) on the first PRIDE Dinner Under the Stars. This event has become a well-known and beloved summer mainstay for local residents. As Bloomfield Pride's first in-person event since the pandemic began, we are so glad that Bloomfield will have an occasion to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and embrace the diversity of the township. Celebrating PRIDE is important, as it inspires people to love others and themselves – proudly and passionately! Bloomfield Pride thanks the BCA, the Mayor, and the Town Council for their partnership and support. LOVE IS LOVE!”
