The Community Development Department is responsible for various land use and development related activities throughout the Township.
Construction and zoning permits are issued from this office as well as permits for garage sales, dumpsters, POD-style temporary storage units. Construction and zoning code violations are investigated through the department as well.

The Department also provides administrative and technical support for the Historic Preservation Commission, Rent Leveling Board and administers the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.
Finally, the Department is the main point of contact for the U.S. Census.
